New Zealand Mountain Bike Tours

Itinerary

DAY 1: Arrive in Queenstown, New Zealand: Dinner and debriefing. While in Queenstown we'll be staying at the spectacular Rydges Hotel on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, with unsurpassed views across the water to some of the most majestic scenery in New Zealand. (More about Queenstown)

DAY 2: Today we'll head out on the mountain bikes for a fairly easy ride on some of the spectacular singletrack surrounding Queenstown along the shores of Lake Wakatipu. This is a fairly easy day to get over jetlag, but we'll have longer options for those who want to ride more. Everyone else can head back into town and the options are limitless in the adventure capital of New Zealand!

DAY 3: HELI-BIKING!!!!

DAY 4: This is the day for New Zealand's famous "Double Challenge"! We'll combine jet boating on a Shotover Jet and white water rafting down the Kawarau River. This is an adrenaline packed day. For those even more adventurous, you have the option of bungee jumping over Skippers Canyon before we tackle the thrilling rapids of the Kawarau River.

DAY 5: Fly to Nelson in the morning: Great singletrack ride in the afternoon. We'll spend the next couple of nights on the banks Maitai River at the exceptional Trailways Inn. We'll be within walking distance of 30 restaurants and cafes so this is a perfect night to go off on your own. (More info about Nelson)

DAY 6: Today we get on the mountain bikes for one of the more famous singletrack rides in New Zealand, The Hackett Track. This is a challenging ride, and we may split the group up for people who want a day filled with a bit less adrenaline. In the late afternoon we're going to hit beautiful Tahuna Beach for some relaxing swimming and playing. We'll end the day with a traditional Maori Hangi.

DAY 7: Today we'll go on an amazing downhill mountain bike ride with magnificent views of the Abel Tasman National Park. Before our descent, we'll visit the pristine Ngurua Caves. Once we hit the ocean, we'll exchange our mountain bikes for sea kayaks and travel along the world famous Abel Tasman coastline. While admiring the unsurpassed beauty of the native bush and golden beaches, we may encounter Fur Seals, Dolphins and Penguins!

DAY 8: Today we'll drive to the Port of Picton and take the ferry to the North Island through the beautiful Marlborough Sound. After some sight seeing in Wellington and a visit to a local Maori bone carver, you can transfer to the airport for flights home, or extend your stay to enjoy more of New Zealand.

Call Kate Lawry at Destination Australia 1-888-248-0098 for discount plane tickets.

This 8-day mountain bike tour takes us through some of the best the South Island has to offer including supurb mountain biking, heli-biking, rafting, jet boating, sea kayaking and a spectacular ferry to the North Island through the Marlborough Sounds!

When you are vacationing on Koh Samui, you'll be enjoying the beaches, the waterfalls and the active nightlife, you'll still need a place to stay, and some of the best places to stay on Thailand's third largest island are the rented Samui villas! The Samui villas of Koh Samui are inexpensive and they can provide you with a degree of privacy that's hard to get in some of the larger resorts.
