Peru is the
most varied and exciting of all the South
American countries. It is a land of ancient
Inca capitals, fascinating indigenous cultures,
high mountains and volcanoes, sacred valleys,
tropical rainforests and some of the best
mountain biking anywhere!

Itinerary:
Day 1:
You will fly into Lima and we'll meet you
at the airport and bring you to our hotel
in Miraflores (a nice suburb outside of
Lima). Most flights arrive in the evening.
Day 2:
We'll fly to Cuzco, the ancient Inca capital
nestled in the Andes. The short 1-hour flight
over the Andes Mountains is breathtaking.
In the afternoon we'll take a city tour
and stay at the beautiful Plaza
De Armas Hotel situated right on the
Plaza de Armas.
Day 3: It's
time to get on our bikes. We'll head into
the mystical Sacred Valley and do a spectacular
20 km ride along the river Urubamba. After
lunch we'll drive high into the mountains
and then ride 34 km down a rough mountain
road till we reach some relaxing hot springs
where we will camp for the night. The natural
thermal waters are a perfect end to the
day.
Day 4: Today
we have a dramatic 78 km ride (mostly downhill)
to the town of Santiago where we'll camp
for the night. We're now out of the Andes
and in the upper Amazon Basin.
Day 5: We
now have 98 km to the Jungle town of Quillabamba.
If you leave right after breakfast and you
are a strong rider, you can make it the
whole way on this bumpy jungle track. Many
people will prefer to bike ½ or most
of it and take the van the rest of the way.
We'll stay at the Hotel Quillabamba tonight
and relax in front of the pool.
Day 6: More
superb downhill biking today - we'll drive
105 km to the top of a 15,000+ pass and
ride 45 km down to Ollantaytambo in the
Sacred Valley. We'll stay at the very comfortable
IncaLand
Hotel.
Day 7: Our
last day with the bikes takes in some of
the best singletrack in Peru to Maras, an
important Inca site. After bombing past
ancient salt mines (in use for thousands
of years), we'll end up back at Hotel Maizal.
When you are vacationing on Koh Samui, you'll be enjoying the beaches, the waterfalls and the active nightlife, you'll still need a place to stay, and some of the best places to stay on Thailand's third largest island are the rented Samui villas! The Samui villas of Koh Samui are inexpensive and they can provide you with a degree of privacy that's hard to get in some of the larger resorts.

Day 8: We'll
rest from biking now because there's so
much more to Peru. We will take the train
into Machu Picchu, the most famous Inca
site in Peru and the most impressive ruins
in all of South America. After visiting
the site, well jump on a helicopter for
a short flight back to Cuzco. The aerial
view is phenomenal! Back in Cuzco we'll
relax at the Plaza de Armas Hotel.
Day 9: Today
you have the choice of starting out the
day with a spectacular hot air balloon ride
over the Sacred Valley*. Next we'll raft
exciting whitewater on the Rio Urubamba
before returning to Cuzco for a relaxing
evening.
Day 10: We'll
take a morning flight to Lima where you
can make connections for your flights home.
If you have a few hours to kill you can
safely leave your luggage at the airport
and we can arrange for a city tour.
*Extra cost for hot air ballooning.
